Genome wide signals of pervasive positive selection in human evolution

چکیده
The role of positive selection in human evolution remains highly controversial (Cai et al. positive selection have identified hundreds of candidate loci and the genome-wide patterns of polymorphism show signatures consistent with frequent positive selection. On the other hand, recent studies have argued that many of the candidate loci are false positives and that most apparent genome-wide signatures of adaptation are in fact due to reduction of neutral diversity by linked recurrent deleterious mutations, known as background selection (Hernandez et al. 2011). Here we analyze human polymorphism

Pervasive, genome-wide positive selection leading to functional divergence in the bacterial genus Campylobacter.
An open question in bacterial genomics is the role that adaptive evolution of the core genome plays in diversification and adaptation of bacterial species, and how this might differ between groups of bacteria occupying different environmental circumstances. The genus Campylobacter encompasses several important human and animal enteric pathogens, with genome sequence data available for eight spe...
متن کاملRecent Coselection in Human Populations Revealed by Protein–Protein Interaction Network
Genome-wide scans for signals of natural selection in human populations have identified a large number of candidate loci that underlie local adaptations. This is surprising given the relatively short evolutionary time since the divergence of the human population. One hypothesis that has not been formally examined is whether and how the recent human evolution may have been shaped by coselection ...

Abstract Selection not only increases the frequency of new-useful mutations but also remains some signals throughout the genome. Since these areas are often control economically important traits, identifying and tracking these areas is the most important issue in the animal genetics. The aim of this study was to detecting signals of selection in the genome of Turkmen horse using 70K SNP chip...
متن کاملTargeted resequencing of two genes, RAGE and POLL, confirms findings from a genome-wide scan for adaptive evolution and provides evidence for positive selection in additional populations.
The availability of multiple genome-wide human polymorphism datasets has led to an increase in efforts to scan the genome for signals of positive selection. As a result, the number of loci in the human genome predicted to be adaptively evolving increases monthly. Yet, these numerous genome-wide scans have identified minimally overlapping sets of candidate loci, potentially due to biases in geno...
